On Friday, 10th February 2023, Universitas Negeri Malang held two critical events. The first event discussed potential collaborations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The event was attended by the Rector of UM, Prof. Dr. Hariyono, M.Pd, the Dean of Faculties at UM, the Director of UM, and the Director of the Office of International Affairs of UM, Dr. Evi Eliyanah. Meanwhile, the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was represented by Dr. Abdulrahman Ali M. Alamri as the Ministry of Education, Dr. Sami Abdulrahman H. Alharbi as the Ministry of Education, Mr. Kamal Jameel A. Alwidyani as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and several lecturers from prestigious universities in Saudi Arabia.


The second event was the opening of REALS 2023. REALS is an acronym for Rethinking EurAsia Lecture Series held until April 2023 that discusses various issues. Attending this event was the Rector of UM, Prof. Dr. Hariyono, Director of the Office of International Affairs UM, Dr. Evi Eliyanah, president of ALMI, dr. Gunadi, Ph.D., Sp.BA, and head of the UM Library, Nurenzia Yannuar, S.S, M.A, Ph.D.
